Doctor’s Residence Bungalow

House, Vadodara-Baroda By No Comments

Located on the premises of the SSG Hospital was a bungalow, built in the 1880s for the resident doctor of the Hospital.

The bungalow was the classic example of British Colonial architecture and located right behind the Memorial of Yuvaraj Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad. Back in the day, it was surrounded by huge trees and even had a small garden of its own. It was occupied by the head of resident doctors during 1886, who oversaw construction of the Hospital.

In April 2017, the bungalow was razed down without the authorities having any clue about it. When asked, both the VMC and the Hospital authorities blamed it on each other !!!
